Wellington - Carols for Our Cleaners and Sing for Security

Kia ora Living Wage Wellington people,

Please join others from faith groups, community organisations and unions at Living Wage Wellington’s 3rd Carols for Our Cleaners event:

Carols for Our Cleaners and Sing for Security

·         Thursday December 8, 5-6pm, Civic Square

·         Bring your best carols’ voice (song sheets provided)

·         Wear a Living Wage t-shirt or red with Christmas bling

·         Our MC is City Missioner, Reverend Tric Malcolm.

What’s it about?

Hundreds of Wellington City Council workers have had much-needed pay rises as a direct result of the Living Wage campaign, including 60 very low-paid cleaners and security workers employed via contractors. This event is to celebrate our Living Wage wins at Wellington City Council in the spirit of Christmas, by singing carols and Christmas songs.

But there is still a way to go before every Wellington City Council worker is on the current NZ Living Wage rate and there are still workers (including cleaners) on poverty rates of pay.

Join us to thank the Mayor and councillors for the steps already taken and show them they have support to deliver on the promise they made in the election campaign that Wellington will become a Living Wage Council and set an example for other employers in the city.

Please come with others from your faith group, community organisation and union and whanau and friends.
