November 4-11 marks Living Wage Week 2018. On Sunday 4 November we unveiled our billboard at St Matthew-in-the-City, joined by communities from across the city!  

For the second year we celebrate growing private and public commitment to a decent wage for thousands of New Zealanders as large and small businesses become accredited Living Wage Employers. Beginning with an unveiling of a billboard at St Matthew-in-the-City, the Movement will also keep the pressure up on councils leading into the 2019 local government elections.  There will be a presentation to the Porirua City Mayor on November 5 and railway station meetings with local government politicians to highlight the call for a Living Wage for council contracted workers in Auckland.  

In Christchurch, the team celebrate at Living Wage Employer cafe and bar, Xchange, while students and young leaders talk Living Wage through the eyes of youth, in both Auckland and Wellington.  The last event of the week brings migrant builders together with Minister of Construction Jenny Salesa and the Philippines Consulate to discuss permits, pastoral care and poor wages.
